How often should I visit the dentist?

For optimal oral health, we recommend visiting the dentist twice a year. This will allow us to properly monitor your oral health and identify signs of dental issues. Early detection can ultimately save you time and money. If a problem is left to progress, it could become more difficult or costly to fix. If you haven’t been to the dentist in a long time and suspect you have gum disease, you should visit more frequently.

If I brush my teeth every day, do I still have to floss?

Absolutely! Brushing alone will just remove the food and bacteria from the surface of your teeth and gums. When you floss, you can catch those areas that your toothbrush can’t reach, such as under the gum line and in between the grooves of your teeth. You might be at a higher risk of developing an infection if you don’t floss daily.

What is the best way to get my child to brush their teeth?

The best way to establish good oral hygiene habits with children is to start them early. Brushing their teeth should be part of their daily routine, and make sure to lead by example! Your child will likely continue if they see you brushing your teeth and practicing good oral hygiene. If your child refuses to keep up with their oral hygiene, try making it fun for them. For example, get them a toothbrush in their favorite color or with their favorite character on it so they’ll be more likely to use it.

What is the best way to prevent cavities?

Staying on top of your oral health is the best way to keep cavities away. This includes brushing and flossing every day to remove plaque and harmful bacteria and limiting sugary foods and carbonated beverages. You also don’t want to skip your professional dental cleanings!

What are dental x-rays?

We use dental x-rays to identify issues and provide accurate diagnoses. These tools can allow us to closely examine your teeth and their roots with more clarity. X-rays can help us identify abscesses, early signs of oral cancer, and much more!

What is fluoride, and why is it important to dental health?

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral known to strengthen your tooth enamel. It’s naturally found in some water, tea, and foods, and you can even purchase toothpaste with fluoride in it. It works by building up the enamel that bacteria have eroded. Most dental offices offer fluoride treatments for strong and healthy teeth.

What is holistic dentistry?

Holistic dentistry is an alternative to traditional dentistry that emphasizes your overall health as opposed to just your oral health. Holistic dental treatments include metal-free fillings and services that only use materials that are biocompatible with your immune system.

What can I expect during my first dental appointment?

If it’s your first time visiting the dentist in a long time, we will get to know you and thoroughly examine your teeth and gums. We will take dental x-rays to ensure you don’t have any serious oral concerns. We want to serve you in the best way possible, so it’s important that you’re honest with us about your oral hygiene habits and dental history.

Can I make a same-day appointment?

Of course! If you have a dental emergency and you require immediate attention, we’ll be here to provide the services you need.
